Idol to a Broken Generation Title:Idol to a Broken Generation Characters:Harry Potter, Lavender Brown, Parvati Patil Rating:PG-13 Disclaimer:I own nothing at all. Word Count:221 A/N:Written for the 'new beginnings' challenge at hih. Summery:For many, a new beginnings is a good thing. For Harry it is a new status and another world that he didn't expect or ask for.
When Harry has to make his way around lumps of rock, broken doors, and dead bodies to get back to the Great Hall it, doesn’t feel like a new beginning. It just feels like the end of everything he once knew and trusted. It is hard to be happy and grateful things are over when people around you are mourning brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and friends. Harry can see Parvati slowly brushing Lavender’s hair after cleaning the blood away from her throat to make her look peaceful in death and he can hardly connect it to the girl he took to the Yule Ball. People want to spread jubilation and for everyone to celebrate and Harry just can’t. There has to be a time to come to terms with the end of the past before he can look forward. Things are different now. Harry is not a child anymore but the godfather to an orphaned child, boyfriend to a grieving sister, and an idol to a broken generation. A new beginning should be a good thing but to Harry it can’t be like that yet. He did not expect to live, to see it, to have to ask himself the questions he now faces. For now it is only yet another thing he didn’t ask for but has to face anyway.
